"Ruby Rose, if I have to tell you the answer to this problem one more time!" Weiss' voice echoed in their empty dormitory. Yang and Blake were out doing who knows what. She didn't even know if they were spending time together or if they were separated from the other. Crossing her arms, she shook her head at the student she had been attempting to tutor.
Her grades were still far better than anyone else's, besides possibly Blake's, and Ruby was significantly failing, especially in Professor Oobleck's class. She sighed, shaking her head as she flopped back down on her part of the bunk bed, a large sigh of exasperation leaving her.
She softened her voice, looking up at the younger teenager who seemed to have tears in her eyes, shaking her head quietly. "Look, Ruby, I'm sorry, but you have to remember we are still in a school!" If they were full blown Huntresses, this wouldn't be such a problem, but they weren't out of the hole just yet. They still had so much to learn, so much to see, and if they continued going at the path they were... they would be kicked out of Beacon sooner than they could say Dust.
Getting up, she walked over to the little counter where they kept their cooking materials, gathering together the ingredients for some coffee. Waiting for the aroma to fill the air, she closed her eyes, attempting to breathe the best that she possibly could. It would be rude of her to lose it with Ruby, wrong of her to go back to her old ways.
After all, she had already come to terms with everything, realized that she was truly being a spoiled little princess that, while she didn't get everything that she ever wanted, was far more lucky than a lot of other people. She had upbringing, she had status, she had smarts, and good looks. Even the scar that crossed her eye helped to make her mysterious, proved that she was a good warrior that had been in plenty of scuffles and battles, someone that knew how to hold her own.
And then there were others, like Ruby. Someone who was skipped ahead two years early, someone who hadn't gone through all of the extensive studies and properties, the learning that she had. Ruby hadn't had a chance to grow up; she hadn't had a chance to learn everything that she had needed too before being thrust into the duty of a leader. Even Ruby, optimistic and bright person that she was, must have been... incredibly daunted when she was declared as the boss of Team RWBY. The head of three other girls, far beyond her senior.
She couldn't take it out on her. After all, Professor Port had taught her to grow, to savor what she did have and to become the best possible teammate in the entire world that she could be. And honestly, she had to agree that she preferred being the helpful person over the hardened, cruel Ice Queen of a person she could be. Of course, she was no where near perfect... but she was leagues better than she was.
Dumping cream and five sugars into Ruby's cup, taking her own with significantly less of the sweetness, she took it over to where her student and friend was working hard, trying to correct her mistake. It wasn't always the easiest thing for them to do; if anything, it was far more difficult than either of them were thinking. They were working a double life... a life of a student... and a life of something a little bit more dangerous sort. The lives of actual Huntresses.
She passed over the mug, a soft smile adorning the normally frozen features of her face. "It was the Faunus War," she stated softly. "The Faunus War was a time of great bloodshed. Trying to gather all of the civil rights they could that lasted over three years. Finally, the Faunus were able to find homes here, in the rest of the Kingdoms of Remnant, but it was at a terrible cost."
Weiss closed her eyes, not really certain whether it was in anger, upset, confusion, or a mixture of a myriad of emotions crashing through her. She had never trusted the Faunus; after all, they were the reasons that she had never had such a great childhood, the reasons that she was always kept under lock and key for her father. The reason why she had lost so many family members, lost so much Dust, and why she was determined to keep moving forward.
She had learned over the time spent at Beacon that not all Faunus were utter trash and that they held emotions too. They were far more than just animals - although, not all of them acted as though they were more than that.
In the end.. it was all just harsh and confusing, and she couldn't help but want to try to make it all end. All of the pain, all of the suffering... If there could be a time where she could live in peace, she would want it, and she'd want it to be soon.
Looking back at the notes Ruby had taken, thanks to the extra work for the big test that Professor Oobleck had given them to study, she relaxed a little, nodding her head in agreement to the words that Ruby had written down.
"Much better, Ruby!"
