"He's most likely targeting the men. They are the most similar members of the two families. C. Jarvis, 29, worked full time. Charolette Cutler, 39, was a stay at home mom. The Jarvis's had two girls in public grade school, while the Cutler's had a son in private high school, the Jarvises went to church, the Cutlers didn't. Nothing holds. Except with the men.
Both in their late 30s, white, approximately six feet tall, brown hair, nice homes, nice families, good jobs. That's the connection."
..."But they are of the same type. We know that most serial arsonists are white males. A complex MO develops over time. This guy is in his mid-thirties. He sees the victims as successful versions of himself, and... he resents them for it."
Reid gave a frown as he looked over all of the information that the case had given them information too, that had arisen and made sense for the callousness of the murders.
"These aren't just any murders either. See all the slight marks over the major arteries? This was his way of getting back at them. They hurt him, so he was slowly going to return the favor. He cut them up into tiny pieces and allowed them to watch them bleed themselves out before finishing the rest of the job."
It was never a pretty sight when a case came through to the Behavioralist Unit of the Bureau. If anything, it was gruesome. It was dark. It was.. honestly frightening. All the same, it was the job that Spencer Reid and the rest of the group had gotten themselves into, and it was that which made everything seem more of a match than anything; at least they had each other.
This new case was one that had started up over a week ago, four days between each of the killings. So far, there had only been one other victim, but if Spencer's hunch was right, and this was a killing of a methodical mind - there was going to be another murder.. and it was going to happen soon.
There had already been three days since the last attack, meaning they had only today to try to figure out who the killer was, what was going on, and how to stop them before it was too late for another victim and their family... Before it was too late for the BAU to be able to stop the killer from going too far.
None of the families had anything to do with each other. They had never met, never spent time together as far as Spencer could tell. In fact, the only thing that seemed to make sense were their successes. Their ability to grow and make others see them in a light that made them special. He could only hope that this APB would fit the man they were trying to find.
Regardless, that didn't give them finger prints. Hard evidence. It didn't give them a name, an insight on the next victim.. They were in a gigantic city with so many people, a large population where they couldn't just look for everyone and figure it out easily. This was going to be a tough case to crack, but he had just the perfect team to do it with.
"Any information from any of the scenes on your end, Baby Girl?" Derek Morgan asks from the other side of the room, his eyes keeping a close watch on everything that was being stated to them. Morgan had his own doubts, doubts about everything that had to do with this entire case.
Quietly, he was already scribbling down information that he could use, information that he could try to make sense of. If what Reid had hypothesized was correct, all that meant was that he needed to find someone on a stake out that matched... certain criteria, criteria that would fit in well with these obsessive behaviours, the fixations, the over all demeanor of a person that would cause this type of a murder.
After all, he studies guys like this for a living; he would probably be able to know more about them than they did about themselves.
"Actually, hold that thought; I'll be comin' to see you in just a few minutes after this meeting."
