"Yare yare daze..."
Another day full of callous annoyances. Another day full of enemy Stand users coming after them. Another day of idiotic atrocities posed. He was getting annoyed... and no one enjoyed his company when he was pissed off.
Prone to violent outbursts of rage, the quiet high schooler gave a message to Kakyoin, explaining that he was going to be.. disappearing.. for a short amount of time. He trusted Kakyoin and Polnareff to watch after his grandfather, and they were bunking down in this town again anyway. It wasn't as though they would lose travel time for him.
Finally, message having been given, Jotaro headed out into the opposite direction of the bright city that was close by. If anything, being around more people would simply irritate him worse - and a massive breakout of punches would be what no one would wish for.
A few hours later had him resting on his back against a tree, hat draped casually over his eyes. Sound reached his ears; sound that was... not as natural as he would wish for them to be. Wonderful. Another annoyance.
Not even bothering to move from his resting area, muscular giant growled out from beneath the material. Not saying anything yet, no.. but the simple grunt of discontentment should be enough to warn anyone that they were far from welcomed here.

Riley Sterling
Riley Sterling It was crying. Not obnoxious crying, but still crying all the same.
There was a smaller, raven haired female sitting on the opposite side of the tree, not knowing of the fact he was on the other side.
She'd recently lost her mother to Dio, the terrible bastard, had killed her less than two weeks ago, and it was still breaking her immensely. Her mother had been a wonderful woman, everyone in the town knew her for her grace, kindness, and patience. And now she was gone, leaving a young grown woman to fend for herself.. Alone. So of course, she came to the old oak tree where her mother used to sing, softly humming the same sound she had heard when she was a young child.

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro clenched his teeth as he heard the sobbing grow more and more loud, the sound disrupting the peace that was supposed to be this little escapade that he had created. Sitting up, he shook his head, standing, propping the hat back properly on his locks. It was then that he realized that the crying had come from... someone that wasn't too much younger than himself.
There was something odd about this girl, that much was clear. She wasn't simply sobbing for the fun of it, nor was it something simple that had upset her. These were not the tears of a tantrum throwing child; it was something deep, something that was more destructive to her than it should be.
Perceptive as always, Jotaro shook his head again, a whispered, "Yare Yare Daze," escaping from him. Great. Another issue for them to be caught up in. That wasn't going to happen, not if he could help it. About to turn to leave, Jotaro stopped again, listening to the sobs of the girl.
A delinquent with a huge heart and a soft spot for women and children, the giant stopped, poking his head around the tree to speak with her.
"What's all the crying about?"

Riley Sterling She was startled, falling back and staring up at.. the man? She wasn't sure, he seemed like a man but had a slightly teenage face. She was too afraid to ask; he looked menacing.
"O-Oh.. I'm sorry. I didn't realise you were here, Sir.."
She wiped her eyes with the corner of her shirt, embarrassed that someone had heard her crying. "It's... Well, I recently lost my mother.. She was all I had, and to witness Dio murdering her..." She frowned slightly, looking down at the grass. "Do you know who Dio is...? He's a terrible man.. He shows no mercy to anyone, and takes the most innocent of lives.. my Mother was one of them..."
She looked up with embarrassment then, standing up and dusting herself off. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling again.. I'm really sorry for disturbing you. My mother used to sit here at this tree with me and sing when I was little, or teach me to heal things.. So I come here often. I've never seen anyone else here before." She smiled weakly, bowing down before him.
"You, er.. You're new here, aren't you? I don't think I've seen you around before.."

Ōku Nomoji
Ōku Nomoji The Stand User clenches his fist when he hears the name.. So that bastard had already made stops in this neck of Cairo, did he? At least he knew he was getting close.. Close enough that he would be able to pummel him into the ground and make him pay for all of the innocent lives he had taken. Make him pay for the pain of his mother.
Menacing vibes mess with his aura even more as his face turns dark with anger. People from the Speedwagon Foundation that had nothing to do with the Stands were killed. His mother's own stand was slowly killing her, throwing her into fits of unrest. The lot of the Crusaders had gained injury after injury due to him and his men.. Oh, the payback list grew on and on... He couldn't wait to be able to toss them a receipt, paid in full, by Jotaro Kujo.
"...DIO , ka?" he states, tone turning even more quiet than usual. Cold. Quiet. Calm. Three words that describe the teenager before her. She was so close. So close to being able to destroy him for once and for all... And now, he had another grievance to add to his list of pummeling.
"Where is he?"
DIO was now the only thing on his mind. He didn't even register that she had asked him another question as far as him being new. His attire, his skin color, the accent that he spoke, all should have been key notes to know that no. He was not a part of this world.

Riley Sterling "I don't remember where he said, but... I know it's here in Cairo. He was mumbling things that I didn't really understand..." She frowned slightly, keeping her gaze on the other's shoes. "He mentioned something about a Joestar and was muttering about destiny and such.. I don't know why, or what it was really about.. But I don't understand why he murdered her. I don't think she knew anything about it..."

Ōku Nomoji
Ōku Nomoji Jotaro's thoughts are clear venom as he thinks about DIO and the innocent slaughtering of yet another innocent woman. So he was starting to take out his anger on innocent souls that had nothing whatsoever to do with Joestars? That made plenty of sense, considering it was the vampire himself.
That was when he starting considering another possibility.. This girl could easily be a fellow Stand User. They had entered Cairo with three more Stand Users that they had to face, not including DIO himself... It would make logical sense for this woman to be one of them. After all, it wouldn't be the first time that DIO had sent people younger than an adult after them.
Mondatta was certainly no older than thirteen... The User of Death 13 - though Jotaro didn't remember this - was an infant not even a year old.. It wouldn't be surprising to utilize someone closer to his age to get an edge on the high schooler.
"... Yare yare," he stated. Behind him, Star Platinum will begin emerging, standing behind him with an eerie glance. To see whether or not she notices the Stand, would be part one of his attempt to see if they had encountered yet another enemy.

Riley Sterling She tilt her head, looking at him with a questioning look. "You keep saying that.. What does it mean...-" That's when she noticed the Stand. And it didn't seem to terrify her. In fact, she was more amazed than afraid. "You have a Stand, too? Do you happen to know a man named Avdol, by any chance? Oh, please tell me you know Mister Avdol-"
The truth is, her mother, and herself, had been both friends with Avdol since she was a little girl, and had been his pupil until he went off with a certain Joestar. That's when she'd lost touch with her dear friend.

Ōku Nomoji He pulled his hat down further over his eyes, shaking his head softly. There was much that was going to be needed explained around here; strange that his catch phrase was one of those things. "Yare yare daze.. Basically, it means, Good Grief, if you translate it into English," he states, crossing his arms.
The moment he notices the girl recognize Star Platinum, however, he raises his fists in a defensive manner.. at least until he hears the name.. Avdol.
Immediately, the flares of concern are disappearing, his hands lowering back down to his side as Star Platinum disappears from his side. "...Yes. I know Avdol-san," he states calmly, swiping his finger across the brim of his hat. "I suppose you could call us friends."
A slight smile popped to his face before he turned serious again, eyes flickering back towards her. "How do you happen to know that name?"

Riley Sterling "Oh. It actually sounds better when you say it like that.." She giggled, nodding softly. "I like it."
"So you do know Avdol.. I'm glad." She smiled brightly, starting to giggle. "If you could take me to him, I'd gladly explain how I know him on the way." She rubbed her arm nervously, glancing at the ground. "I just hope he remembers me..."

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro shook his head, frowning slightly. "Unfortunately, I do not think I am going to take you to him until after I speak with him. Even if you seem to be innocent, at the same time, you could easily be someone that is working for DIO."
After everything else, that would not be a difficult idea to entertain. "Give me your name." He'll call Avdol first.

However, she was nervous. What if her former teacher didn't remember her?

He is saying nothing else to her, simply shaking his head once.

Ōku Nomoji "Yare Yare.." He never said a single word about him not having remembered her. It was just that once again, they were taking someone that had nothing to do with DIO on an adventure with them. The last time something like this happened, the kid almost got herself killed. Several times.
He started walking off, hands in his pockets, a slight nod of his head beckoning her to walk along with him.

She was worried, glancing up at him with a very concerned gaze. "I could get you patched up quickly if you want."

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro shakes his head once, moving his hand to clasp it on his neck. The blood continued to ooze through it, though the wound was far from deep. Turquoise hues are pulled back, attention kept on the woman behind him.
There was no point in her stressing over such a small little issue such as this; no. If anything else, this little injury was a reminder of who exactly he was going to pummel into the ground the next day.
"Later. We do not have the time to stop." Not for anything. They were already behind schedule; their borrowed time of fifty days was almost up.

Riley Sterling She nodded, quickly following behind him. "So, now that you know I'm safe, I can explain how I know Mister Avdol." She smiled softly, the smile coming onto her face simply by speaking her Teacher's name.
"From what I know, firstly, my Mother saved his father from a very strong disease when she was my age, and he owed her his life. Of course, Mama didn't feel the need for him to owe her anything, so she just asked to be his friend. She even helped Avdol's mother give birth to him. I was born years later when she met my father, and I grew up with Avdol since then. Normally I'd see him as a brother, but.. I started seeing him more like a father after he took care of me. Mother was sick and could barely leave bed without coughing up a storm... And Avdol knows so many things, I wanted to learn from him. So.. He became my Teacher."
She sighed softly then, walking at the same pace as the male. "Of course, three years ago he disappeared and I'd been searching for him since.."

Ōku Nomoji Eyes flicker over to her for a brief moment, his face still turned straight outwards in the direction they were headed. Casual pace, not too much rush or stress in his actions, yet attention fully focused on anywhere there could be an enemy attack. No matter how skilled or swift his Star Platinum was, one moment of not paying attention on either of their ends, and it was all over... Not to mention that now he had yet another Standless kid to take care of.
He continued walking alongside her, ears attentive to her story, gaze not shifting in the slightest. It's honestly difficult to tell whether or not he even heard her, let alone what he believes of the information.
Finally, she finishes her story, a slight nod exiting from his features. "I see," is all that is stated. Filing away the information into his brain, Jotaro clenched his fist as he thought about the deep connection she and her family had to Avdol, therefore to the rest of the Crusaders. That must have been why DIO had gone after them.
For leverage. And of course, at least not until he took her over to him... Avdol would probably have never heard the news, not since he has been out of Cairo for so long.
... This was turning into more and more of a pain.

Riley Sterling She grew quiet after finishing her story, then looked up at the male again. "So.. What about you? What's your story?" She was honestly curious, and trying to gain a new friend.
If he knew Avdol, obviously he was a good person, in a way. She knew Avdol too well; he was extremely perceptive and knew who to surround himself with, depending on their qualities. So obviously, the male she was walking alongside with had to be alright.

Ōku Nomoji He turned his gaze towards her again, this time full on. Piercing, harsh, frightening, and not even the least bit seeming to be friendly. There was a reason he was known as a punk, as a delinquent, and everything that had transpired since they had left Japan until they got here to Cairo, only amplified that untouchable sense about him.
It is clear that despite his connection to Avdol, he was not going to say a single word, not even give her his own name until it was absolutely necessary to do so. The less she knew about him... perhaps the better.

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro shoots another glance towards her as they near the hotel that they were remaining at for the night. After all the attacks they had sustained over the past month, they had decided to take it easy for one day in order to rest and heal - they would be useless if they had to take on more Stand Users, let alone DIO, in their current conditions.
"We are staying here," he states, nodding his head towards the hotel. "We will meet everyone in the lobby." Cautious as ever, he made certain that none of the rooms were to be seen by the girl, and that they would meet up in a congregated place.

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro can see the excitement that is coming to her face, and that has him somewhat concerned. He still does not know whether this woman is friend or foe, so he will be keeping the closest eye on her that he, and Star Platinum, can. It was only when he walks into the lobby that...
"Maeve!" the voice of the Egyptian Fortune Teller will reach them. The man gives a kind smile - one that was barely ever seen upon the man's face - as he walks over, his pants rubbing against his legs as he walked.
"My, how you have grown; it has to have been years since we have last seen one another. How is your mother?"

"Of course I've grown. I'm 17 now, I have to be tall and strong just like you taught me." She smiled softly.. then frowned at his question.
"Mother.... She..." The female averted her gaze for an instant, biting her lip. "Two weeks ago..... Dio murdered her. Mama didn't stand a chance..."

Ōku Nomoji Jotaro could almost feel the air turn from relaxed and friendly into something that was a lot more menacing and stressful to everyone in the area. DIO had indeed claimed another life.. a life of someone that she held dear. That Avdol held dear.
The Egyptian takes a deep breath in a means of not exploding in anger and sadness; being rash was not in his job description, after all. That belonged to Joseph and Polnareff. Regardless, the soft shaking as he held Maeve proved that the news had knocked him to his core.
"... DIO..." The voice was deeper than usual, chocolate hues flashing in definite anger. He was not going to let this stand; as soon as they had the chance... they would kill him for all the wrong that he had done.

Ōku Nomoji
Ōku Nomoji Avdol and the teenager shot a glance at each other one more time. This was not going to be a good thing, not in the slightest. If the girl gets hurt - or worse, captured - there would be little to nothing that they would be able to do. They have one goal, and that is to make certain that they find DIO and end him before his tyranny could continue further.
Turquoise hues dance back over to the girl, a slight sigh escaping from the calm, collected male. "..Yare yare." In the end, it would be up to Avdol; as her guardian, he had the final say, and nothing else would be able to change that opinion.
---
"This is not a good idea, Maeve," the man states one more time, attempting to get her to listen to him, trying to plead to whatever senses he could.. Then again, in the end, it was fruitless. He already knew it. Her eyes glared at him with the determination that had made him train her mother in the arts of healing and fortune telling, and once those beliefs starting going...
There was no going back.
Arguing with himself further, Avdol finally did what the girl wanted. "Very well.. But if there is any sort of fighting, yu are to leave immediately. Am I understood?"

Ōku Nomoji Avdol wrapped his arms around the girl, hugging her softly. Usually, he was not one for emotions of this type, but he was worried. So dreadfully worried. They hadn't signed up for bringing a non-stand user with them, regardless of how adept she might be at healing and viewing the spiritual powers around them. In the end, if this girl, if Maeve, got killed or hurt at all, it was going to be on Avdol's head. The same way as the very connection between them and the Egyptian was what had caused DIO to go after her was on his head.
He sighed, nodding his head slightly. If the girl was insistent on being part of their team.. there was nothing else he could do.
"There are three others," Avdol stated, turning his attention down to her.

After everything else, that would not be a difficult idea to entertain. "Give me your name." He'll call Avdol first.

He started walking off, hands in his pockets, a slight nod of his head beckoning her to walk along with him.

"Maeve!" the voice of the Egyptian Fortune Teller will reach them. The man gives a kind smile - one that was barely ever seen upon the man's face - as he walks over, his pants rubbing against his legs as he walked.
